We are now combining the two lists of Go Daddy Auction Spotlight and Where the action is on NameJet.

Go Daddy

WirelessCloud.com leads the way at Go Daddy. The 10 year old domain is already over $1000 with 56 bidders.

Extractions.com is at $560 and is another 10 year old domain. This will heat up toward the close of the auction.

Beb.org is a nice three letter .org domain. This is not an expired auction, it is being sold by the owner of the domain.

Champion.mobi is the fourth highest bid auction. This is a private seller not an expiring auction. The name is over $300.

There are a few auto related names that are currently priced fairly cheap.

AutoHaven.com is a 10 year old expired domain. Currently at $112.

WheelGear.com is also a 10 year old expired domain. Currently at $77. These names have some potential imo and if they don't get bid too high leave room to flip.

Domain showing Sedo Escrow for six months ?

The Curious Case of NewYorkApartmentsForSale.com

The domain sale of NewYorkApartmentsForSale.com was reported by us here on January 12,2012. The domain was sold by Michael Berkens of Most Wanted Domains.

There were some who have consistently brought this sale up on Namepros and have updated a thread since the sale. The thread has over 60 posts and you can read it here.

May 6 there was a comment,

Well, here is something new.
The domain is still in Sedo's escrow, no suprise there.
But when you now go to the site it redirects you to a real estate management company in Sana Ana Calif.
So a domain name about New York Apartments For Sale that sold for $42,000 is redirecting you to a real estate site in California.
This gets more strange every time I look into it.

The reason some are questioning the sale is that the name now links back to the mostwanteddomains.com website.

I spoke to Mike on Twitter months back and let him know about the thread and if there was any info. He said he was paid and did not know nothing else.

Sedo really needs to have the whois update faster than six months as it makes some people start questioning the validity of the sale.  Of course some people take extra time in transferring out or forget about it, but for $42,000 you would think someone was on top of the domain.

Online Advertising Stats for the U.S.

U.S. Online Advertising Statistics

Invesp has put out a report that details the breakdown of ad stats by search,platforms and other categories. No surprise that Google led the way by a big margin in search. The projections out to 2014 show Google gaining share to 79.8 % vs 74.4 % in 2011. Microsoft is projected to increase to 8.7 % from 7 % in 2011.

I was surpised at the projected growth for social ad spend as the number projected in 2016 is $9.8 billion up from just $3.8 billion in 2011. The money spent here is trickier to calculate from a ROI standpoint. Currently some in the space want to say don't worry about that, but business must always worry about that.

A couple things I would like to see NameJet change

Most domain investors check out NameJet just about every day. The quality of inventory and the number of bidders are there day in and day out. I like NameJet, buy there and Hybrid Domainer is an affiliate of the site. There are a couple things I would like to see changed.

Specify Private Auction Sales

NameJet allows certain people either due to the quality of their portfolio or the relationships they have made to sell through NameJet. That's a nice feature and a way to keep members engaged with your platform.

These names should not be just shown under pre release with no other notes in my opinion. Someone bidding should know that they are bidding on a name that is being sold by an individual and not expired.

Go Daddy allows your auctions to be mixed in with expiring auctions, but you can click a button and see what kind of auction you are bidding on.

I have always believed expiring auctions just get bid higher so there is the benefit of having people think the name is expired. Domainers seem to feel its a better buy that a gem was left to expire, rather than another domainer is selling some inventory. I know this to be fact as I have had people who are friends or clients not be as interested in a domain when finding out it was not expired.

I once emailed someone who I had brokered names before and let them know a name on Go Daddy was at $80. The name was in their niche and this person would have a decent budget for the name. The first email was, "thanks for letting me know about the auction." The second one was,"Why didn't you tell me it was a public auction ?" The name was the same, we had discussed his budget for names in that niche and it was low x,xxx. The fact that someone else was selling affected him pschologically. I was not the seller getting him to buy my name, it was just letting him know that it might be a name he liked.This was not the only time I have had someone lose interest when the auction was not expired.

NameJet may also look at the fact if they denote private seller vs expired that everyone will be emailing them to get into the sales channel. Either way I think it should be noted for full transparency.

Minimum Pricing

The second suggestion of mine would be to lower the minimum price. If a domain is good its going to get way more than $69. If its not they could still do some business they would otherwise not have.

If you start the bidding at $20 then you may get a lot of so-so names with one bid and get $20 for names that at $69 someone will pass on and wait for it to drop. True someone else could beat them to the drop but there are a lot of names where someone will think, "For $20 sure I will buy it but for 3 and a half times that, no thank you."

If someone wanted to save some money they could watch the name at NameJet with 0 bids and then place a back order at Name.com and the cost would be $49.99. I know a few people who do this almost daily with .tv domains. $20 is not a lot on one name, but if you are an active buyer those $20 savings add up nicely.

Start them at $20 and make more money on the thousands of potential names daily that usually get no bids at $69. I think it benefits everyone.

When people hear the name Jared they think of Jared Fogle, the man who became an overnight celebrity and spokesperson for Subway Restaurants.

The most famous Jared in the domain industry is Jared Ewy. Jared is the community evangelist at Name.com (An advertiser on Hybrid Domainer).

Jared is really one of the hardest workers and funniest guys in the business. He tweets almost 24 hours a day for Name.com, he takes his work everywhere with him.

Jared gave the world "Nothing like a retweet" We hear it was the most watched video on You Tube for two weeks straight, (in the Cocos Islands).

 

Most registrars don't have a Ewy, someone who is just dedicated to spreading the word of their brand. Most don't have someone who comes up with so many interesting and funny excuses to have beer at the office.

We also know that Peyton Manning could have picked the Arizona Cardinals where Go Daddy is located, but picked the Denver Broncos where Jared Ewy and Name.com are located.

Jared also does stand up comedy in addition to his job at Name.com.

 

There is also a rumor that Jared Ewy is the lead singer of Staind as he and Aaron Lewis have never been seen together.

So thank you Jared Ewy for bringing the fun to domaining.

If you use Google search (and who doesn’t), you may have noticed that sponsored results (pay-per-click, or PPC, ads) have been taking over more and more of the search engine results page.

Here at WordStream, we’ve noticed that too! So we decided to do some research into what impact all of these new, bigger, more prominent and engaging ad formats are having on the average Google searcher. The results are astonishing:

Clicks on paid search listings beat out organic clicks by nearly a 2:1 margin for keywords with high commercial intent in the US.

Now, to be clear here, organic searches still get more clicks overall than paid search – but not all keyword searches are created equal. Keyword searches with high commercial intent – meaning, keywords where a searcher is looking to buy a product or service (for example: “buy stainless steel dishwasher”) – are worth far more to businesses than your basic informational keyword searches (for example: “who is Thomas Edison”). Our research found that for these valuable, high commercial intent keyword searches, paid search advertising listings gave the “free” organic search listings a resounding beat-down. Naturally, we’ve illustrated the results in an infographic.
