Some Premium Domains Up For Auction on Flippa

There are some premium generic domains that are listed on Flippa that close over the next five days.

Yields.com a generic one word financial names is already at $13,500 and closes in 4 days. The domain was registered in 1997. There are 4,400 exact global monthy searches for yields.

ZB.org is currently at $805 with 3 days left. This domain was registered in 1997. ZB has 27,000 exact searches with 1000 from the US.

Templates.net is back on auction again, this is one of the flaws of Flippa imo, full disclosure Flippa was an advertiser on this blog in March and April, I still like them just as much now that they are not an advertiser, and I did say this when they were paying for advertising. They need to have some explanation as to why a listing appeared sold and then comes back, they do provide a little icon to let you see how many times something was listed where you can look at the old listings. That's great and cool when you see a domain never sold and see how high it got bid. When a listing looks like it sold I believe that Flippa should tell the seller to explain exactly what happened. This domain sold for $17,100 last month. The seller said, "I removed the reserve price now. So, highest bidder will win this auction! This is a great bargain. A domain like this going for this price!"

The domain was auctioned before the $17,100 closing auction, it closed at $16,700, there was a third auction 14 days ago where the name only went as high as $4,600.

This time its at $5,255 with 3 days and 12 hours left and a buy it now of $75,000.

Moms.us hot on the heels of the $252,000 sale of Moms.com, Moms.us is listed and has 5 days to go and is at only $150. For those who like .us this may be of interest.

Finance.info is at $2,350 and closes in 3 days. The domain sold at the Go Daddy .info auction in December for $9,002.

10 Secrets To Sell Your Website at a Premium

Justin Cooke wrote a blog piece on Flippa explaining how he sells on the platform.

A site valued at $500 isn’t going to sell for 5-figures no matter what tactics you use. Having said that, the methods below have helped us consistently outsell our competitors at prices nearly double what they’re doing."

#1 Be Descriptive

Many unsuccessful auctions on Flippa have very little information in the description. From a buyer’s perspective, if you’re not willing to go into some detail about your site it’s usually a bad sign.

You need to have a high-level summary or overview at the top of the auction copy and then use the rest of the description to dig into the details. Use headers to break up the blocks of text and point directly to the various sections in your auction copy.

Ear.org Back on Flippa as the sale fell through

Ear.org closed 4 days ago on Flippa at $4,950 The auction had 65 bids but apparently the winner notified the seller known on domain forums as Federer, that he would not be able to pay.

In the new listing Federer said, "The Leading Bidder of the auction sent us an email 48 hours following the auction, informing us that is unable to go through with the purchase in the coming weeks."

So now the domain is back on Flippa and currently at $555. The listing is here.

It certainly is a nice three letter .org that could be a great home for an organization that focused on hearing or the study of the ear. Do you think it will go for higher than $4,950 this time around and would this have been a good domain to send to T.R.A.F.F.I.C since the seller is selling on Flippa at no reserve.

Twitter Gets A Patent For Twitter And Flippa gives you a chance to win 100 Credits

Twitter had some interesting stories come out yesterday that were both directly related and indirectly related to the micro blogging service.

The Verge reports on Twitter getting a patent for Twitter. From that article:

Although Twitter famously has a pending patent on the familiar "pull-to-refresh" gesture, the company may have just acquired something more valuable: a patent on the Twitter messaging service itself. The new patent issued today with Twitter founders Jack Dorsey and Biz Stone listed as inventors, and broadly describes a messaging service in which users follow each other and sent messages don't have specific recipients, but are rather sent and displayed to those followers by the system itself. That's exactly how Twitter works, of course — it's definitely more of a broadcasting system than a direct messaging service, and the patent claims explicitly make reference to "broadcasting an update message" several times.

FTC amends its DOT COM Disclosures to include mobile and social platforms. MSN covered the story with the following:

With all that in mind, the Federal Trade Commission just updated its guidelines for mobile and other online advertisers, on how to make those disclosures clear, conspicuous and deception-free.

The challenge, it appears, involves Twitter and other, short-form messages consumers get on social media. To illustrate that challenge, the FTC created a fictional celebrity, "JuliStarz," and had her issue the following fake Tweet:

"Shooting movie beach scene. Had to lose 30lbs in 6 wks. Thanks Fat-away Pills for making it easy. Bit.ly/f56."

The FTC says that tweet wouldn't hold up to its standards for several reasons. First of all, it doesn't disclose that JuliStarz is a paid endorser for Fat-away. It also doesn't specify that the amount of weight Ms. Juli supposedly lost isn't the standard result for the product.

This will mostly affect celebrities who endorse products and tweet about that product on Twitter. A follow up tweet is not considered to be ok as the audience may not put those two tweets together.

Flippa announces affiliate program

Australian website market to launch affiliate program. The program will be handled by Share A Sale and you can apply there.

This was suggested on uservoice.com about an affiliate program way back in 2009

Create the "Flippa Affiliate Program" that encourages/rewards those that bring in new buyers/sellers

There are some fantastic webmasters out there who promote flippa and introduce thousands of new buyers and sellers to flippa.com.

I believe this sort of thing should be encouraged and rewarded with the "Flippa.com Affiliate Program"

Such a thing would allow webmasters/bloggers/marketers to earn a % of listing & success fees paid by the buyers & sellers they refer.

This would obviously mean more sellers, more buyers, and more listing & success fees.

Basically it'd be win win for both flippa.com and the affiliates :O

Blackstar Publishing was the owner of the domain that has been registered since 1995.
