Registrar for sale on Flippa

Last week I placed a back order using Name.com's Domain Nabber, the domain I wanted was not caught by Name.com but rather BatDomains.com. I had never heard of BatDomains.com and did a little research and now it seems as if the registrar is actually for sale.

The registrar is listed for sale on Flippa.com. The listing is not filled out too well but here is what it says:

Batdomains.com is an ICANN accredited registrar for .com and .net that is available for sale. The owner is leaving the sector and is selling the registrar. Batdomains.com is operated as a private registrar that is owned by a European company. 

Many of the domains that were once in the registrar have been moved and is virtually clean for one to takeover. All documentation including billing with ICANN and Verisign is up-to-date.

This is a fantastic opportunity to enter into the domain registrar business with the imminent explosion of new gTLDs coming on board (1200+), registries of these new gTLDs will be looking to registrars to promote and sell. A great time to enter this industry sector.

The buy it now is $50,000 with a starting offer of $30,000 listed on the site. The auction will run for another 26 days.

Lifehacker a Gawker Media property asked their readers who were their top 5 registrars.

Lifehacker has an Alexa ranking of 726, 517,00 Twitter followers and 483,000 likes on Facebook.

The top 5 registrars were:

1. Hover
2. Namecheap
3. Gandi
4. Dream Host
5. Name.com

Nice to see an advertiser make the list. Name.com was described as:

The best way to check for registration deals

Google the keyword domain names.

You will then see the top sponsored ads, click those and make your purchase. Don't just see it and then type the registrar address in your browser. Don't pay attention to emails with a coupon code until you check this first.

DomainNameWire posted a $3.95 coupon code for Register.com tonight, which is cool. But you can get them for $2.

 

When you go to Google you will see other ads too.

I had an account with them years ago, and of course they are more expensive on the renewal side, but you may want to pick a few up and then transfer them to your favorite registrar if you don't like the renewal pricing or their backend. $2 is at least a cheap way to try them out.

Registration specials around the net

There are some good special deals going on right now.

Netfirms.com $4.95 for a .com/.net/.org and some cctlds.  Do not go directly to Netfirms but instead Google, domain names. Click the Netfirms ad and you will be able to register for $4.95.

Go Daddy is offering $5.99 .com for up to 3 domains. Again Google domain names and click on the Go Daddy Ad.

1and1.com which is not a favorite among domainers, seems to be offering .99 .com for one year. There does not look like there is any other purchase required but do your research before you use them.

DomainMonster.com $10.99 if you register 25 the price is $7.69

Dynadot.com $9.75

Moniker.com $8.99

Name.com $9.99

Namecheap.com $9.98

GoDaddy.com $11.99 of course no one pays this price with a multitude of coupon codes usually making the price around $7.69 to $8.

Fabulous.com $9.49 This is at tier 7 with 0 to 100 domains.  The cheapest is $7.99 if you have 5000 domains with Fabulous.

Of course there are coupon codes and other deals going on all the time.
